Serban Savu – Under the Radar
Pitzhanger Manor, London, spring 2011

Under the Radar was the first ever solo exhibition in a public institution of the paintings of Romanian artist Serban Savu. Featuring new and recent works, the exhibition presented Savu's distinctive and poignant scenes of everyday life in Romania, populated by figures that seem strangely detached from the post-Communist world around them. The exhibition was curated by Matt Price and Simona Nastac, and organised in association with the Romanian Cultural Institute, London. Launched to coincide with the exhibition was a monograph on the artist published by Hatje Cantz. With a foreword by David Nolan, the publication also featured texts by Rozalinda Borcila and David Cohen. Serban Savu is represented by David Nolan, New York, Mihai Nicodim, Los Angeles, Plan B, Berlin, and Galerie Hussenot, Paris.
